Who Wrote Mathew? Part 1

Matt Dillahunty is an outspoken atheist and the host of the show "The Atheist Experience". This is a live call in show where they challenge Theists to call in.

Dillahunty the week before was saying nobody knows who wrote Mathew, and a 15 year old kid Kabane calls in and in my opinion cleans Dillahuntys clock!

@1:32

Dillahunty completely exposes his bias against the supernatural by saying that Kabanes problem is that he is comparing the NT to the same tests we would any other work in History. This is called "special Pleading".

"Special pleading is a form of spurious argumentation where a position in a dispute introduces favorable details or excludes unfavorable details by alleging a need to apply additional considerations without proper criticism of these considerations themselves. Essentially, this involves someone attempting to cite something as an exemption to a generally accepted rule, principle, etc. without justifying the exemption."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special_pleading

@ 2:19

Kabane exposes his bias against miracles by rejecting any text if it contains miracles and putting them in the myth category.

So instead of looking at the evidence and investigating the arguments for the resurrection he simply rejects it from the start because of his presupposition against miracles. Kabane does a great job of exposing the hosts presuppositions!

@5:30

Dillahunty says he dosent believe a text that contained miracles because its not enough evidence for him. The problem is that the resurrection is a historical event thus only has historical evidence to support it. You will see as this goes on Dillahunty continuously makes a category mistake by thinking we need to use the scientific method to test miracle claims that happened in the past.

@ 7:22

Kabane again exposes Dillahunty and his continuous special pleading, bravo Kabane!!

Who Wrote Mathew? Part 2

Kabane nails Dillahunty here on his subjective claim that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".

@2:00

Kabane nails him again and exposes him for his bias against Theism.

@3:17

Matt again makes a category mistake by saying the scientific method is the best way to find truth. While this maybe true in the area of science, it is a category mistake to assume the way to get to the truth of historical claims is by the scientific method.

Dillahunty espouses the view of "scientism". Scientism claims that science alone can render truth about the world and reality. This is a classic example of why this view fails! When dealing with historical claims one must use historical criteria, NOT the scientific method.

@8:20

Dillahunty shows that he would never be open to believe in the resurrection because it is a historical event which can not be put under the scientific method.

So it is not a rejection based on the evidence for the resurrection, but he rejects the resurrection because of his philosophical commitment to "scientism".

@9:00

Kabane asks him if in his view that science is only informer of truth. Dillahunty says emphatically no, and then goes on to say no way of finding truth has been shown to be better than the scientific method. So he again double speaks trying to hide his bias and commitment to scientism.

Again, on his view he could never look objectivley at the evidence for the resurrection because it is a historical event and not able to undergo the scientific method, which he claims is the best and most reliable way to find truth. This is just a basic category mistake on his part which is a logical fallacy and Kabane did a great job exposing his views!

Who Wrote Mathew? Part 3

Here Dillahunty demonstrates his bias against the supernatural. Historical claims can not be tested by the scientific method because they are events which happened in the past. How can one use the scientific method to see if Abraham Lincoln did certain acts in history?

Historical claims must be evaluated by the criteria of the historian, not the scientist!

@5:08

Matt really shows how self refuting his position is by claiming that miracles are testable, and then in the next breath says the scientific method is repeatable. A miracle by definition is a one time event. If a miracle continued to happen over and over again, it wouldnt be a miracle but part of natural law!

Who Wrote Mathew? Part 4

Kabane sticks it to Dillahunty hear and dosent let him weasel out of his previous claims about Mathew!

Intelligent Design

Here is an interview with Dr. William Dembski and skeptic Michael Shermer

Gods Omnipotence

Many people do not have a correct understanding of omnipotence. God can only do that which is logically possible. For example, God can not create a married bachelor or a square circle. Not because he dosent have enough power, but because these things do not exist. They are logically contradictory thus it is not a power issue but a logic issue.

God can not lie, nor can he stop being God. God can do that which is logically possible because the laws of logic flow from his very nature, thus God is not a self refutting being!

Cambrian Explosion

Are students learning the whole truth about Darwin's theory of evolution?
According to a growing number of scientists, the surprising answer is no.

The Cambrian explosion certainly upsets Darwins "tree of life". It demonstrates that there is not a nice steady transition as one would expect if Darwinism were true, but rather an explosion of new animals and phyla. This video will show you some of the massive holes in Darwins theory!

Bill vs. Bill

After seeing this video, I thought this would be a great opportunity to show how to defend the faith when talking with skeptics and agnostics, such as Bill Maher. I will dissect the dialog point by point.

First, I want to say that personally I am a fan of O'Reilly; however, in this interview, I think he lost big time and we as Christians, should see the importance of studying Apologetics and learn how to completely annihilate these silly arguments.

@45 seconds:

Maher says that most Americans, who believe in religion, are stupid. Then, immediately brings up Noah's Ark as an example saying that 60% of Americans believe this really happened.

Let me respond by saying a few things. First and foremost, Maher never gives an actual argument as to why Noah's Ark could not possibly be true, but instead, he turns to mockery and saying people who believe that are stupid. Mockery and ridicule are not arguments!!! I could easily dismiss Maher's beloved theory of evolution by making wise cracks about lizards turning into birds, but that would not mean that evolution therefore is false.

If we are going to have meaningful dialog, then Maher needs to do more than just engage in name calling and ridicule. He needs to present an actual argument.

If God exists, then miracles are possible. If he created the universe, then Noah's flood is certainly not outside of the realm of possibility. Ministries like Answers in Genesis have repeatedly answered critics about the Ark and I think very convincingly.

@1:15:

Here, O'Reilly shows that he really does not have much of a defense for the attack that Maher is making. O'Reilly says that Noah's Ark is allegorical and is not to be taken literal. At this point, Maher presses O'Reilly hard as to why he does not believe what is in the Bible if God is the Author.

O'Reilly should be prepared to defend the Scriptures and he is not. Jesus said in John 3:12: "If I tell you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe when I tell you heavenly things?" If we can not trust our Lord to get it right when it comes to Creation and Noah's Ark, the things we can put to the test, then how can we believe him when he talks about spiritual things which we can not see?

@ 1:45:

Maher brings up Exodus 35:2 which says: "Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death." He then hammers O'Reilly and unfortunately O'Reilly has no defense. It should be noted here that Israel was a theocracy, meaning God himself was ruling them. The context of this Scripture is for a specific people at a specific time. Jesus fulfilled the civil and ceremonial laws and America is not a theocracy so the answer to Maher's question is: "NO, we should not stone our neighbor because that command was given to a specific people at a specific time".

The fact that Maher does not like that and feels that it is immoral, does not mean therefore that the Bible is false. That is exactly what he is relying on when he brings it up and Bill falls right into the trap. Had I been asked this same question, I would have said something like: "So what if you don't like it. How does that make it not true?

@ 2:15:

Bill tries to distance himself from the Old Testament instead of giving a perfectly reasonable answer like the one given above. This leads down the slippery slope of outright rejecting the Bible and could cause his viewers to start to doubt the Bible. Folks, this is why we need philosophy and good apologetics. There is no reason Maher should be defeating O'Reilly other than the fact that O'Reilly has not done his homework when it comes to defending the faith.

@3:30:

Maher goes on to say that: "Killing your neighbor is immoral". I would love to ask Maher why that is the case? In his worldview, how does one get objective moral values of rightness of wrongness? In Maher's worldview men have no freewill, but we are all just molecules in motion and the laws of physics and chemistry run our brains. If we are nothing but evolved animals, then why is the lion killing the zebra so different from a man killing his neighbor? In the atheistic worldview, what exactly is evil?

Maher says that we "ought" not kill our neighbor, but the problem is to say that we "ought" to do something, implies that there is a way or a standard that things are supposed to be. However, you can not get a prescription of the way things SHOULD be without a prescriber! A moral law demands a moral lawgiver; thus, Maher has to sit in God's lap in order to slap His face.

@ 4:00:

O'Reilly brings up Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes and Maher's responds: "And I am the bad guy for saying people are dumb". Again, Maher has no arguments other than ridicule and mockery. He has presupposed that miracles can not happen so anyone who believes in miracles are stupid. If God exists, then miracles are possible. If God exists, then acts of God certainly are possible and Maher needs to do more than name calling and ridicule. He would need to demonstrate that God does not exist. In all the times that I have heard Maher interviewed, I have never once heard him give an actual argument against God's existence. It is always mockery and ridicule which some may find cute, but again this is not an argument.

@ 5:00:

This is where they get into a bit of an argument over God's existence. O'Reilly should have layed out some good arguments here and had Maher deal with them instead of appealing to blind faith. Maher is great at cracking jokes but again, this is in no way evidence that God does not exist and that the Bible is false.

In conclusion, I would just say that the reason that this blog exists is to help people defend their faith and to equip them to do so when these type of attacks come.

Atheists Excel in Religious Knowledge

Until Christians take the command from Jesus to love the Lord with all their heart, soul and MIND, Christianity in America will continue to decline.

Dr. William Lane Craig shows why Agnosticism Fails

It has been said by many that Agnosticism is the more humble and reserved view. Those who think that Christianity is true are called arrogant because they think that their view is correct and other systems of belief are wrong.

I will now make a few points regarding this view.

1- The Agnostic claiming that "nobody can know" so its best to reserve judgement is also making an exclusive claim.

This view excludes views that are exclusive. So as hard as one may try to get out of it, the Agnostic is caught in a "Self-Referential " defeating statement.

If I were to say " I cant speak a word in English" my statement would be obviously false because I just spoke in English. If I said "All words are meaningless" I am using words to convey meaning.

So when the Agnostic says that those who are exclusive are arrogant, he is committing this fallacy because he is excluding those whose religions are exclusive!

2- The Theist is not claiming absolute 100%knowledge. The Theist and Agnostic is looking at the world around him and must decide what world-view makes sense of what knowledge we do have.

So the Theist looks at arguments for Gods existence and will think there is good reason to believe that the evidence leads to a Creator or he will not. Nobody claims 100% certainty. If one required that kind of certainty they would not be able to believe anything, because very few things can be shown to be 100% certain. The agnostic is unconvinced by arguments for Gods existence show he has made a judgement that the evidence is not good enough for him to jump to Theism. So the Agnostic has not "with-held" judgement, but has decided that he does not find the evidence convincing.

Nation of Islam Debate

Nation of Islam Revisited #3: Debating Farrakhan & Black Muslims from Larry Wessels on Vimeo.

Larry Wessels, director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (see websites BIBLEQUERY.ORG, HISTORYCART.COM, & MUSLIMHOPE.COM) is joined in studio by Christian evangelist & apologist Wilford Darden (director of Jesus is Alpha & Omega Ministry, 9121 Stella Link #C, Houston, TX 77025) as they discuss the bizarre teachings of this 20th Century religion founded by a white man named Wallace Fard during the 1930s in Detroit, Michigan. Fard had been released from San Quentin Prison after serving 3 years on a drug trafficking charge & came to Detroit as a door to door salesman but soon claimed to be the "Supreme Ruler of the Universe." He passed himself off to Black Americans as a mystic and a prophet from the Middle East & soon had a following of 8000 strong which began the "Nation of Islam." An unemployed Georgia migrant worker, Elijah Poole, was renamed "Elijah Muhammad" by Fard. Then, in 1934, Fard himself mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again, & Elijah Muhammad became his successor for the next 41 years. He taught that even though Fard was believed to be Allah in human form, when Fard died, Allah did not die. God then manifested Himself in Elijah Muhammad who was revealed to be the "Messiah" of the Jews, the "Jesus" of the Christians, & the "Mahdi" of Muslims. In 1975 Elijah Muhammad died & his son, Wallace Muhammad, took over, only to disband the Nation of Islam seeking to return to more traditional Islam. Shortly thereafter, Louis Farrakhan broke away from Wallace Muhammad & reorganized the Nation of Islam, assuming absolute control of its leadership. Farrakhan has said, "I am Messiah, Elijah Muhammad was raised by Master Farad Muhammad to become the Messiah & he raised me to become the little Messiah."

Angels Among Us

ANGELS AMONG US/ JESUS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT from Larry Wessels on Vimeo.

JESUS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: WHO IS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT? Why does the Old Testament have hundreds of prophecies concerning the coming Messiah which were actually fulfilled in one man, namely Jesus Christ? These prophecies clearly identify the Messiah as: 1. He, a male child, will be born of the seed of a woman, 2. He will come from the race of the Jews, & specifically from the seed of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob, 3. He will be a great prophet with the authority to teach like Moses, 4. He will be mocked, & people will cast lots for His garments while He suffers. Fulfilled Bible prophecy proves the existence of God & the reality that Jesus Christ is the promised Messiah.

Jehovah's Witness History

Jehovah's Witnesses: Deceived Deceivers #1 - Origins & History from Larry Wessels on Vimeo.

Larry Wessels presents a series of informative programs on the Jehovah's Witness religion which was begun by a man named Charles Taze Russell who had no formal theological training but was able to spread his strange & peculiar beliefs throughout the world. This man Russell even believed that Revelation 14:6 was talking about him & that Revelation 8:3 referred to Russell's "Watch Tower Society." The following statistics for the Jehovah's Witnesses are dated however they do provide insight into the scope of this religion: The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society organization has a worldwide active membership of over 5,800,000 in 205 countries with over 931,162 here in the U.S. 15,000,000 people (active JWs and non-members) participate in Jehovah’s Witnesses meetings worldwide each week.

UFOs

UFOs IN THE NEW AGE: EXTRATERRESTRIAL MESSAGES OR DOCTRINES OF DEMONS? from Larry Wessels on Vimeo.

This radio show begins with a clip of a woman named Irena who claims she was contacted by space aliens while she was in prayer for her dog Jack. She says she heard the "voice of God" which consists of celestial brothers from Jupiter after they put on a light show in her backyard. She says she was attracted to one of these space travelers & ended up marrying him & is now a messenger to humans on earth concerning what these aliens have to say. More clips of this "space wife" come up during this radio broadcast.
Bill Alnor does an excellent job of analyzing the global Ufology craze that has taken place through the main stream media, such as Hollywood movies, television, magazines, etc. The general public seems to have an amazing fascination with this subject but with very little discernment. People will believe almost any theory about who or what these UFOs are EXCEPT what the Bible says about it (with the exception of wild theories about Ezekiel's wheel found in the Old Testament).

The Trinity: An Answer to Jehovah's Witnesses

Larry Wessels, Director of Christian Answers of Austin, Texas/ Christian Debater (websites: BibleQuery.org, HistoryCart.com & MuslimHope.com) & editor of the "Christian Debater Guide" presents his ministry's radio broadcast "Christian Answers Live!" This particular program features guest Christian author & apologist Robert M. Bowman, Jr. speaking on the subject of his book, "Why You Should Believe in the Trinity: An Answer to Jehovah's Witnesses" published by Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, Michigan. As Robert Bowman states in his book, "Trinitarians (people who believe in the Trinity) hold very firmly and without compromise to belief in one God. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are NOT three Gods (Mormons, who believe that they are three Gods, claim to believe in the Trinity but make it very clear that they reject the traditional doctrine of the Trinity in any form). The Athanasian Creed makes this point repeatedly: "And yet they are not three Gods, but one God ... So we are forbidden by the universal faith to say, there are three Gods or three Lords." The God worshipped by trinitarians is the one and only God; they recognize no other gods at all. Jesus is not another god alongside God: he is God, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit."

A unified theory, says physicist Stephen Hawking, would be the ultimate triumph of human reason and would allow us to "know the mind of God." Philip Johnson begins his talk by pointing out that such a theory would allow humans not to know the mind of God, but rather to be omniscient. Dr. Johnson proceeds to give his audience a guided tour of the history of Darwin's ideas of evolution and their ramifications and implications in present day society. Ultimately, Johnson provides convincing arguments against the "scientific game" that assumes a materialistic reality in its pursuit of an explanation of the universe and exposes many of the problems of evolutionary theory.

Dr. Ravi Zacharias Speaks at Mormon Tabernacle

Letter from Ravi Regarding The Mormon Tabernacle Event

Many have asked how the invitation to the Mormon Tabernacle came about. Ten years ago, I was invited by the philosophy department at Brigham Young University to deliver a series of lectures on atheism and theism, a comparative study. At that time I also presented a defense of the Christian faith. Much has transpired in the intervening years as evangelical Christian scholars and Mormon scholars have held discussions on their differing faiths. Sometime ago, a group of about 150 churches and academic institutions under the leadership of Greg Johnson of Standing Together invited me to speak in defense of the Christian faith at a series of open forums on university campuses in Utah. Greg then suggested that perhaps the LDS church would open the Tabernacle for a major presentation by an evangelical Christian.

With that in mind, Greg and Bob Millet (from the faculty of Brigham Young University) approached the First Presidency with the idea and to everyone’s surprise, they graciously agreed to extend an invitation to me. Greg and Bob came to my office in Atlanta to discuss with me what this meant and how we should go about this. Needless to say, I had a lot of questions on the “why” of such an invitation. What it boiled down to was that they were interested in hearing from an evangelical Christian about what lay at the heart of our faith. I asked for two personal conditions. One, that I be given the privilege of selecting the subject and two, that I bring someone to provide the music. They gladly granted both. But even after that I hesitated till several key evangelical leaders and professors from across the country wrote and urged me to accept the invitation to speak at the Tabernacle. After much prayer and reflection, I did. I selected the subject: The Exclusivity and Sufficiency of Jesus Christ. I asked Michael Card if he would come and provide the music.

November 14th was the historic moment. The last time an evangelical Christian had spoken there was in 1899 when D.L. Moody spoke. I have to say the entire weekend was one remarkable event after another. I had a personal meeting with the First Presidency. I did open forums at Weber State University and at the University of Utah. The climactic meeting at the Mormon Tabernacle was packed with an overflowing crowd. What a night it was!

From all over the world I have received numerous messages of encouragement and appreciation. Anyone who hears the tape will know the clarity of the message presented. Only the Lord gave such enablement.

To the critics who objected to my being there, I say that all my life as an apologist I have spoken across wide chasms of thought and virtually to every major religious group, sometimes at the risk of threats and violence. Differences ought not to keep us from carrying the truth to everyone. Must we not graciously build one step at a time in communicating our faith with clarity and conviction? Is it really necessary at the early stages of such openness to “dump the whole truckload of goods,” rather than first gaining a hearing and respect? I have no doubts about the differences between the LDS faith and the historic Christian faith, differences that are deep and foundational in terms of authority. But the proclamation of the living Christ can break down hearts all over the world that we might see ourselves as He sees us and call upon Him and no one else for our salvation. Must not our methods be in keeping with our message? There are numerous instances in Scripture where Jesus went to those of a contrary view and with grace, sowed one small seed at a time. I must also add that the courtesy and graciousness extended to me by every Mormon leader or professor that I came into contact with cannot be gainsaid. My earnest prayer is that the Lord was honored in what happened and that the opportunities that come from this event will multiply. There is no other name given under heaven whereby we may be saved. How we communicate that name is equally important as the message itself if we are to be persuaders of men and women under the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

As you hear the message presented, I pray you will hear the sound of the seed being sown. Only Heaven will reveal the fruit that has resulted.

Ravi Zacharias

Chalcedon Creed

We, then, following the holy Fathers, all with one consent, teach people to confess one and the same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the same perfect in Godhead and also perfect in manhood;
truly God and truly man, of a reasonable [rational] soul and body;
consubstantial [co-essential] with the Father according to the Godhead, and consubstantial with us according to the Manhood;
in all things like unto us, without sin;
begotten before all ages of the Father according to the Godhead, and in these latter days, for us and for our salvation, born of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, according to the Manhood;
one and the same Christ, Son, Lord, only begotten, to be acknowledged in two natures, inconfusedly, unchangeably, indivisibly, inseparably;
the distinction of natures being by no means taken away by the union, but rather the property of each nature being preserved, and concurring in one Person and one Subsistence, not parted or divided into two persons, but one and the same Son, and only begotten, God the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ;
as the prophets from the beginning [have declared] concerning Him, and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself has taught us, and the Creed of the holy Fathers has handed down to us.

When the Psalmist says, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4), we are reminded that our heartsore longing and loss not only undermine our flourishing, but also frustrate our deepest heart desires. In this lecture, Dr. Stump will discuss this distinctive feature of suffering, along with our need as seekers of true fulfillment to address the desires of our heart as part of the problem of evil.

Bible vs Book of Mormon

Order the DVD at www.Sourceflix.com.

The Book of Mormon claims to be "a volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible." Both the Bible and the Book of Mormon declare themselves to be ancient, historical, and reliable rules of faith--the very word of God.

These claims have historically been taken on faith. But is there any evidence to support them one way or the other? Is it even possible to "test" a rule of faith? More to the point, is there any basis for placing one's faith in the Bible or the Book of Mormon?

It's an important question. It's an eternal question. This presentation puts the Bible and the Book of Mormon to the same tests. History, archaeology, textual criticism, and other disciplines combine to shed light on what is true...and what is false.

Truth never fears investigation. Faith need not--and should not--be blind. Discover for yourself which of these books is worthy of being called "scripture" and which is worth of your trust.

Athanasian Creed

Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic Faith. Which Faith except every one do keep whole and undefiled; without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the Catholic Faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons; nor dividing the Essence. For there is one Person of the Father; another of the Son; and another of the Holy Ghost. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, is all one; the Glory equal, the Majesty coeternal. Such as the Father is; such is the Son; and such is the Holy Ghost. The Father uncreated; the Son uncreated; and the Holy Ghost uncreated. The Father unlimited; the Son unlimited; and the Holy Ghost unlimited. The Father eternal; the Son eternal; and the Holy Ghost eternal. And yet they are not three eternals; but one eternal. As also there are not three uncreated; nor three infinites, but one uncreated; and one infinite.

So likewise the Father is Almighty; the Son Almighty; and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties; but one Almighty. So the Father is God; the Son is God; and the Holy Ghost is God. And yet they are not three Gods; but one God. So likewise the Father is Lord; the Son Lord; and the Holy Ghost Lord. And yet not three Lords; but one Lord. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity; to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord; So are we forbidden by the Catholic Religion; to say, There are three Gods, or three Lords.

The Father is made of none; neither created, nor begotten. The Son is of the Father alone; not made, nor created; but begotten. The Holy Ghost is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten; but proceeding. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Ghost, not three Holy Ghosts. And in this Trinity none is before, or after another; none is greater, or less than another. But the whole three Persons are coeternal, and coequal. So that in all things, as aforesaid; the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity, is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved, let him thus think of the Trinity.

Furthermore it is necessary to everlasting salvation; that he also believe faithfully the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess; that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man; God, of the Essence of the Father; begotten before the worlds; and Man, of the Essence of his Mother, born in the world. Perfect God; and perfect Man, of a reasonable soul and human flesh subsisting.

Equal to the Father, as touching his Godhead; and inferior to the Father as touching his Manhood. Who although he is God and Man; yet he is not two, but one Christ. One; not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh; but by assumption of the Manhood into God. One altogether; not by confusion of Essence; but by unity of Person. For as the reasonable soul and flesh is one man; so God and Man is one Christ; Who suffered for our salvation; descended into hell; rose again the third day from the dead. He ascended into heaven, he sitteth on the right hand of the God the Father Almighty, from whence he will come to judge the quick and the dead. At whose coming all men will rise again with their bodies; And shall give account for their own works. And they that have done good shall go into life everlasting; and they that have done evil, into everlasting fire. This is the Catholic Faith; which except a man believe truly and firmly, he cannot be saved.

The Two Natures of Christ

When people ask questions about Jesus, for instance like the JW's, we must make sure we parse the question. For instance, if Jesus was God, then why did He did not know the hour of His own coming {Matt. 24:35-36}? This and other questions of this type are answered actually very easily and when you understand this concept MUCH confusion disappears!

In John 1:1 we are told: "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word WAS GOD" and then in John 1:14 we read: "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us".

Jesus has 2 natures: one is fully Human, the other fully Divine. Many think that Jesus stopped being God when He came to earth, but this is false. Instead of "subtraction", think of it as "addition " Jesus ADDED a human nature to Himself. In fact we are told in

Philippians 2:6-8 "who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.

The Greek word here for "emptied" means that Christ laid aside His divine attributes and chose not to use them at certain times; however, there are times when He does use them. For instance, in Matthew 12:25 we read: "And knowing their thoughts Jesus said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself will not stand." This is a example of Jesus demonstrating His omniscience {All- Knowing }. Another example is when Jesus is in the boat with the disciples. We read in Mark 4:38-40: "But Jesus was in the back of the boat, asleep on a cushion. So they woke him up and asked him, "Teacher, don't you care that we're going to die?" v-39--And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, "Hush, be still." And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. -v--41--They became very much afraid and said to one another, "Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

This is a great example of Jesus being omnipotent by calming the wind and the waves, yet He is in the boat sleeping. We know that God doesn't sleep, and man can not control nature, so what we see is Christ's dual natures.

This is how you answer the question: did Jesus know all things? In His human nature "no", but in His divine nature "YES"! Consider the following when you are asked a question about Jesus.

JESUS' DIVINE NATURE:

Uncaused

Unchanging

Knowledge is INFINITE

Necessary Being

All-Powerful

Simple Being {Not composed of parts}

INDEPENDENT

JESUS' HUMAN NATURE:

Caused

Changing

Knowledge IS finite

Limited Power

Composed Being

Dependent

This hopefully will help clear up much of the confusion. Let us sit in awe and wonder of our amazing and great God as it was Him and Him ALONE who sacrificed His Son, the Second Person of the Trinity so that we may live!!!

Does Darwin Matter Debate

Featuring the author, Michael Shermer, Director, Skeptics Society; With comments by Jonathan Wells, Senior Fellow, Center for Science and Culture, Discovery Institute. Debates over evolution range from Pennsylvania to Kansas to the University of California. Michael Shermer, a former evangelical Christian and creationist, argues that "intelligent design" theory appeals to a human predisposition to look for a designer behind life's complexity. But in fact the theory of natural selection is supported by the scientific evidence and is the foundation on which modern biology rests. Conservatives and Christians should accept evolution because it explains family values, social harmony, human nature, and the origins of morality. Jonathan Wells, author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design, disagrees with Shermer

The Universe: The Outer Planets

New discoveries regarding the Outer Planets are creating a fundamental rethinking of our solar system. Uranus is a toxic combination of hydrogen, helium and methane. Scientists speculate that the planet was knocked on its side after colliding with another body. Neptune's largest moon, Triton, is cold and barren, but some scientists speculate that liquid water might exist under Triton's icy surface. If this is proven true, Triton could be the home to one of the biggest discoveries of all time. Cold and inhospitable, Pluto completes one orbit around the solar system every 248 years. Cutting-edge computer graphics are used to bring the universe down to earth.
